Additional points:

·     On 4/9 days (shikunichi), all meals are informal, monks and nuns shave their heads, baths are formal (kaiyoku), and usually, the afternoon work period and evening zazen are left open for taking care of personal matters such as laundry and room cleaning (shinpen seiri) and personal study (jiko kenshuu).

·     During the orientation period (June 1-10), wake-up is usually at 4am, and orientation lectures are scheduled for both morning and afternoon.

·     Based on circumstances (the work situation, upcoming major ceremonies, and so on), the schedule might change (for example, cancellation of the noon service, or ceremony rehearsal in the evening instead of zazen).

·     Several days a month, participants leave Shougoji to beg for alms (takuhatsu) in nearby towns and cities.
